FAQ

Questions, answered

Is recurring giving really free?
Yes. Monthly, quarterly, and yearly donations via Stripe are part of the free plugin — no add-on, no upgrade. You pay only the payment processor's own fees (typically 2.9% + 30¢), and donors can even cover those for you with fee recovery.
Does Donor Merchant take a cut of donations?
No. We never add a platform fee or take a percentage of your donations. The only fees are the standard ones charged by Stripe or PayPal.
Is it secure? Do you store card numbers?
Card details are entered into payment fields hosted by Stripe (or completed on PayPal's site) and never reach your server — that keeps you in the simplest PCI compliance category. Donation totals are recomputed server-side, payment status is verified directly with the gateway, and webhooks are signature-checked.
What do I need to get started?
A WordPress site (6.0+) with HTTPS, and a free Stripe or PayPal account. From install to a live donation form is typically under five minutes. Follow the setup guide.
How is this different from GiveWP or Charitable?
Those are capable plugins — but the features small nonprofits need most (recurring giving, fee recovery, tributes) sit behind paid plans that start at hundreds of dollars per year. Donor Merchant includes them in the free plugin, and stays deliberately lightweight: one plugin, no add-on maze. See the full breakdowns: vs GiveWP and vs Charitable.
